Responsibilities

• Integrate and test satellite avionics at PCBA, sub-assembly, and spacecraft level.
• Organize and manage test stations and tools, maintaining maintenance and calibration schedules.
• Support engineering in improving functional testing of sub-systems and components as well as system level testing.
• Inspect and repair cables and harnesses for internal systems and interconnects.
• Troubleshoot test failures with test engineers.
• Own subassembly debug plan development.
• Develop and improve work instruction guides.
• Apply Lean/Six Sigma continuous improvement methodologies.

Test Technician

As a Manufacturing Test Technician, you’ll work directly on the ?ight hardware that goes to space, testing components, PCBA’s, subsystems, and fully integrated satellites. You will partner with technicians and engineers who care about quality, precision, and mission success. This role is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, methodical, and consistent in their approach to work, with a track record of reading and following instructions carefully, taking pride in clean and organized workmanship, and communicating early when more context or clarification is needed. You’ll work in a lab and cleanroom environment where production can move quickly, timelines constantly shift based on launch schedules and program priorities, and the quality you bring to each build directly supports Planet’s mission to deliver reliable data from space.

Impact You’ll Own

• Integrate and test satellite avionics at PCBA, sub-assembly, and spacecraft level
• Organize and manage test stations and tools, maintaining maintenance and calibration schedules
• Support engineering in improving functional testing of sub-systems and components as well as system level testing
• Inspect and repair cables and harnesses for internal systems, electrical interconnects, and overall systems.
• Troubleshoot test failures with test engineers
• Own subassembly debug plan development
• Develop and improve work instruction guides
• Apply continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma)

• Experience successfully managing complex, interdisciplinary manufacturing processes
• Experience with testing complex vehicles in the aerospace or automotive industry
• Ability to learn new engineering concepts quickly
• Ability to implement continuous improvement processes
• Experience with command-line interface on Linux desktop
• Ability to read and parse log files
• Advanced PCB and harness soldering skills
