Job summary

X-energy is seeking a Test Engineer to lead the planning, development, and execution of test systems for advanced reactor technologies. The role involves coordinating with engineering, safety, and SHE teams, and supporting test facilities and documentation throughout the lifecycle.

The position requires hands-on hardware experience, DOE-style testing, and strong design-of-experiments capabilities. Office and lab work may alternate with onsite requirements at Rockville, MD facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering from an accredited institution.
• Level II: typically three years of experience in a test engineering role.
• Level III: typically five years of experience in a test engineering role.
• Level IV: typically ten years of experience in a test engineering role.
• A master’s degree in engineering may be in lieu of two years of experience.
• A Ph.D. in engineering may be in lieu of three years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop test systems, equipment configurations, and test items in collaboration with engineering team members to mature prototype first-of-its-kind X-Energy technologies.
• Collaborate with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) on hazard identification, safety planning, safety equipment procurement, and infrastructure requirements and training needs.
• Lead test system design reviews and coordinate the preparation of Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Data, and Test Reports.
• Support in-person test setup, installation, commissioning, and execution at X-energy’s test facility.
• Support standard processes and best practices associated with technology maturation, test planning and execution.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
