Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Test Procedure Writer/Engineer to bridge engineering designs and hands-on testing at our IPS compatibility program. You will author, review, and maintain step-by-step test procedures and ensure they meet ERD/PRD requirements, with a focus on safety, quality, and traceability.

You will collaborate with Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software teams, perform walkthroughs, and coordinate with technicians at the test facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 5+ years post-graduate engineering experience in hardware/manufacturing/software or submarine-related roles.
  • Proven track record of writing high-consequence technical manuals and test scripts.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and maintain step-by-step technical test procedures.
  • Interpret ERDs and PRDs to define testable conditions and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Design, Electrical, and Software Engineers to document inputs.
  • Perform walk-throughs with technicians to validate procedures for safety and accuracy.
  • Ensure procedures conform to regulatory and internal quality standards.
  • Submit, track, and archive documents in EDMS.
  • Develop formal correspondence to government for document approvals.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to ensure alignment.
  • Travel to the test facility as needed to observe procedures in action.
