Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services is seeking a skilled Production Technician – Test Pad to join our manufacturing team. This role performs final operational testing, diagnostics, inspections, and quality verification of custom generator systems before shipment, in an outdoor test environment.

Responsibilities include startup procedures, load testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of diesel and natural gas generators, reading schematics, and documenting results to ensure each unit meets

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to safely work in an outdoor industrial environment.
• Technical training in Diesel Technology or Power Generation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-test inspections of completed generator systems.
• Start, operate, monitor, and shut down diesel and natural gas-powered generator systems.
• Conduct operational testing to verify system functionality and performance.
• Perform load bank testing and monitor system performance under load conditions.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, exhaust, and control system issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
• Utilize diagnostic software, gauges, meters, and testing equipment to identify issues and verify system performance.
• Verify proper operation of safety systems, alarms, controls, instrumentation, and auxiliary equipment.
• Document test results, inspections, repairs, and quality verification records accurately.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, quality, and service teams to resolve deficiencies.
• Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure generators meet customer specifications and quality standards prior to shipment.
• Identify and communicate quality, safety, or production concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe testing area.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
