Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services is seeking a Test Pad Technician to perform final operational testing and quality inspections on diesel and natural gas-powered generator systems before shipment. The role requires startup procedures, load testing, troubleshooting, and verifying compliance with engineering specs and safety standards.

You will work outdoors in a dynamic environment, reading schematics, using diagnostic tools, and documenting results.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to safely work in an outdoor industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-test inspections of completed generator systems.
• Start, operate, monitor, and shut down diesel and natural gas-powered generator systems.
• Conduct operational testing to verify system functionality and performance.
• Perform load bank testing and monitor system performance under load conditions.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, exhaust, and control system issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
• Utilize diagnostic software, gauges, meters, and testing equipment to identify issues and verify system performance.
• Verify proper operation of safety systems, alarms, controls, instrumentation, and auxiliary equipment.
• Document test results, inspections, repairs, and quality verification records accurately.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, quality, and service teams to resolve deficiencies.
• Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure generators meet customer specifications and quality standards prior to shipment.
• Identify and communicate quality, safety, or production concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe testing area.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
