Job summary

Lunar Energy, Inc. in Mountain View, CA is seeking an Engineering Technician to help build and test electromechanical assemblies in our lab and to lead a growing technician organization.

This onsite role requires an associate degree in electronics or equivalent, 5+ years in an R&D lab, hands-on soldering, CAD with Shape and SolidWorks, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support prototype builds of electromechanical assemblies
• Troubleshoot circuits at device level with EE team
• Soldering, mechanical assembly, and fabrication of test boxes/cables
• System and equipment level testing per Engineering direction
• Experience with prototype builds, test fixtures, and CAD work (Shape, SolidWorks)
• Prepare test articles and support post-test tear-downs with reliability teams
• Provide product feedback to Engineering
• Plan technician requirements and scale Lunar technician organization
• Maintain clean, safe, organized lab environment

Engineering technicians will play an instrumental role in the success of Lunar Energy by helping to build and test all of our key hardware products in a lab environment. We’re looking for someone to be both hands‑on with our products as well as a leader to shape and manage a growing technician organization. On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely:

• Support engineering prototype builds of complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Perform troubleshooting on circuits, down to device level, in collaboration with the EE team.
• Perform soldering, mechanical assembly, and fabrication of simple test boxes and cables
• Perform system and equipment level testing per Engineering direction
• Experience with prototype builds, test, and fixture builds
• Experience with CAD work and software such as Shape, Solid works
• Prepare test articles and support post-test product tear-downs in collaboration with reliability and test teams.
• Feedback on product performance/inadequacies to Engineering
• Evaluate technician requirements and support the build-out of the Lunar technician organization.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment throughout builds and engineering tests.
• Safely manage materials and equipment

Desired Skills:

• Associate degree in Electronics, or similar, and/or 5 years of experience in the field
• 5+ years of experience working in an R&D or development lab environment in close collaboration with engineering staff.
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with other individuals in a team or project setting
• You are self‑motivated and able to work with little supervision, consistently take the initiative to get things done, and do things before being asked by others.
• Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity; balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness

Our Compensation Philosophy: Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the hourly range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The hourly range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is $35-$75 USD
