Job summary

Lunar Energy is seeking an Engineering Technician II, Test Operations (Contract) to support day-to-day engineering operations at our Mountain View facility. This hands-on role requires curiosity, meticulous documentation, and a readiness to work with high/low voltage systems and test equipment.

You’ll monitor tests, run scripts, handle DUTs, and help keep the lab organized while collaborating with engineers to improve processes and test harnesses supporting our home energy products.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits.
• Comfortable with teardown, inspection, and spotting anomalies.
• Strong communicator; asks questions and flags issues.
• Must complete HV/LV safety training; safe handling around electronics.
• Experience building test harnesses.
• Experience operating environmental chambers and various test equipment.
• Comfortable running Python scripts and using a terminal.
• Ability to read basic electrical schematics.
• Experience with home batteries, solar, or home electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ongoing testing.
• Take pre- and post-test photos and conduct functional inspections of DUTs.
• Run test scripts, swap equipment between runs, and support minor repairs.
• Tag DUTs and maintain post-test inventory.
• Keep test benches, equipment, and labels organized; ensure lab cleanliness.

• Flag equipment issues or process improvements to the engineering team.

Engineering Technician II, Test Operations (Contract)

On a given day at Lunar, you'll likely...

• Monitor ongoing testing
• Take pre- and post-test photos and conduct functional inspections of DUTs, with training from test engineers
• Run test scripts, swap equipment between runs and support minor repairs (e.g. swapping an inverter or battery blocks)
• Support offsite testing as neededTag DUTs and maintain post-test inventory, ensuring it gets flushed out regularly
• Keep test benches, equipment, and labels organized, take ownership of lab cleanliness and upkeep
• Maintain inventory of common lab equipment and order/make more things as needed
• Flag equipment issues or process improvements to the engineering team

Please note that the hourly range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The hourly range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is $35-$60 USD
