Job summary

Lunar Energy is seeking a Test Engineering Technician to contribute to hands-on build and test activities in our lab environment in San Francisco. The role also involves leading and shaping a growing technician organization as the team expands.

You will work closely with the Engineering group to prototype, test, and refine electromechanical assemblies, while helping ensure safety and organization in the lab. The position is a 6-month contract with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics or similar; 5+ years in a lab setting.
• Experience in an R&D or development lab working with engineers.
• Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision; proactive.
• Production support and software development experience.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering prototype builds of complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Troubleshoot circuits at device level with the EE team.
• Perform soldering, mechanical assembly, and fabrication of test boxes and cables.
• Conduct system and equipment level testing per Engineering direction.
• Work on prototype builds, test fixtures, and related tooling.
• Provide CAD input and collaboration with Shape and SolidWorks teams.
• Prepare test articles and assist with post-test tear-downs with reliability and test teams.
• Offer feedback on product performance and device inadequacies to Engineering.
• Assess technician needs to help build Lunar technician organization.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized working environment; manage materials/equipment.

On a given day at Lunar, you'll likely:

• Support engineering prototype builds of complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Perform troubleshooting on circuits, down to device level, in collaboration with the EE team.
• Perform soldering, mechanical assembly, and fabrication of simple test boxes and cables
• Perform system and equipment level testing per Engineering direction
• Experience with prototype builds, test, and fixture builds
• Experience with CAD work and software such as Shape, Solid works
• Prepare test articles and support post-test product tear-downs in collaboration with reliability and test teams.
• Feedback on product performance/inadequacies to Engineering
• Evaluate technician requirements and support the build-out of the Lunar technician organization.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment throughout builds and engineering tests.
• Safely manage materials and equipment

Desired Skills:

• Associate degree in Electronics, or similar, and/or 5 years of experience in the field
• 5+ years of experience working in an R&D or development lab environment in close collaboration with engineering staff.
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with other individuals in a team or project setting
• You are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, consistently take the initiative to get things done, and do things before being asked by others.
• Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity; balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness
• Some Production support experience, software development experience

Our Compensation Philosophy:

Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the hourly range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The hourly range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is $35-$75 USD
