Job summary

Altron, Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer to join our Middletown, RI team to support test, evaluation, and design verification of the system under development.

The role involves developing test plans, procedures, and reports, and hands-on work assembling and standing up computer equipment in a lab environment. The ideal candidate has DoD experience, familiarity with Navy submarine systems (AN/BYG-1 preferred), strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to follow established procedures,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, CS, or related technical discipline with 2–4 years of experience.
• Experience in test engineering, systems engineering, software testing, or system integration.
• Ability to develop, modify, and document test procedures and analyze results.
• Familiarity with Navy submarine combat systems or similar environments.
• Strong communication and ability to work both independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and docs to develop test methods and procedures.
• Develop, modify, execute, and document test procedures and analyze results.
• Participate in informal and formal test events, demonstrations, and customer-driven test activities.
• Identify and document defects in software, firmware, hardware, and system integration; work with engineering teams to troubleshoot.
• Configure and maintain test laboratory environments per drawings and system requirements.
• Test computer and network equipment and support basic hardware, networking, Linux, and testing environment troubleshooting.
• Document test results, maintain test records, and contribute to reports and other technical documentation.
• Communicate test status, issues, risks, and recommendations to engineering teams, program leadership, customers, and DoD personnel; travel as needed.
