Job summary

Altron, Inc. in Middletown, RI is seeking a Test Engineer to support test procedure development and system verification for Navy training systems. You will document results, report issues, and assist with hardware setup as part of a hands-on testing team.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Experience with AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System or similar Navy systems.
• Familiar with submarine combat systems or Navy testing environments.
• Basic hands-on hardware/network installation or troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow procedures and document work accurately.
• Willingness to travel and learn new systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and update basic test procedures and documentation for readiness.
• Support senior testers during verification and events at sites.
• Identify and report functional or performance issues found in testing.
• Record results, update logs, and contribute to test reports.
• Assist with hardware setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in demonstrations and team discussions for system understanding.
• Support routine installation and maintenance of computer/network hardware.
• Maintain hardware inventories and document minor changes.
• Work on defined tasks with supervision, increasing responsibility over time.
• Predominantly standard business hours with testing-event adjustments.
