Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state (Kent) seeks an engineer to support the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of test facilities. This hands-on role involves testing components and systems across Blue Origin business units.

Responsibilities include designing and operating test facilities, developing test plans, leading daily test operations, troubleshooting fluids and instrumentation, and coordinating with vendors and customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in the design, development, or operation of test facilities or similar experimental research facilities.
  • Knowledge of a variety of fluids; cryogenic and monopropellants preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and take initiative to improve existing systems, processes, and documentation.
  • Analytical orientation and safety mindset.
  • Willing to support weekend and second shift as needed to meet customer demands.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible status.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, fabricate, install and operate hydrostatic, fluid flow, propellant, pneumatic, or cryogenic test facilities.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures; perform data reduction and reviews.
  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, coordinate with internal customers.
  • Understand and troubleshoot fluid and instrumentation systems.
  • Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations.
  • Plan and oversee facility maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings.
  • Design, define, procure and install system components; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
  • Prepare status updates and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a team of Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers and BLUE customers to ensure requirements are met.
