Job summary

Blue Origin in the Seattle area is seeking a Test Engineer III to help optimize the development, construction, operation and maintenance of test facilities across Blue Origin’s Kent operations. You will lead daily test operations, design and install test systems, and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure safety and performance.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 5+ years of hands-on facility experience, and the ability to work a weekend/second shift as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the design, development, or operation of test facilities or similar experimental research facilities.
  • Knowledge of fluids, cryogenics and high pressure gases (>3000 psi) preferred.
  • Ability to understand complex systems, investigate and solve challenging problems, and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Analytical orientation and safety mindset.
  • Willingness to support weekend and second shift as needed to meet customer demands.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teams with the design, fabrication, installation and operation of hydrostatic, fluid flow, propellant, pneumatic, or cryogenic test facilities.
  • Collaborate across the test stands to share best practices and drive efficiencies.
  • Execute projects which increase the operational efficiencies across all test stands.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures; perform data reduction and reviews.
  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers.
  • Understand and troubleshoot fluid and instrumentation systems.
  • Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations.
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings.
  • Design, define, procure and install system components and materials; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
  • Proactively prepare status updates and communicates within the organization and with direct customers.
  • Ensure requirements are met through teamwork with Technicians, Responsible Engineers and internal customers.
