Job summary

General Matter is seeking a Test Engineer to design, develop, and maintain custom testing solutions for our in-house electronics and electro-mechanical hardware. This role focuses on creating test systems and infrastructure to exercise failure modes before production.

You will develop automation in Python, select components, and work with design and manufacturing engineers to improve reliability and efficiency, ensuring safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering with emphasis in electrical engineering and electronics.
• 1+ years of experience with electronic hardware development or software development.
• 1+ years of programming experience using Python or Embedded C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and maintain custom test solutions for in-house developed electronics and electro-mechanical hardware.
• Select commercial-off-the-shelf hardware and/or design PCBAs to power units, measure signals, and apply operating loads.
• Write automation software in Python to interact with test article, test equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation systems.
• Work closely with responsible design and manufacturing engineers to drive reliability and efficiency upgrades.
• Root-cause test anomalies and support implementation of mitigations.
• Design test campaigns to ensure hardware meets lifetime, performance, and safety requirements.
