Job summary

Google's Raxium division seeks a Test Engineer focused on MicroLED display manufacturing in Fremont, CA. You will qualify, deploy, and support test systems for microLED displays and collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate testing capabilities and reduce production costs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in optoelectronics test, display metrology, or semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • 4 years of experience deploying, validating, and debugging semiconductor hardware test systems.
  • 4 years of experience writing and debugging test system software.
  • Experience scripting in SQL or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Test Development team to lead production-scale release of new high-speed optical, electrical test systems by verifying system performance and debugging complex interactions (hardware, software, optics).
  • Collaborate with engineering team to design and implement automated pipelines for Gauge R&R, software deployment, test operations, and production system health monitoring.
  • Define and execute the strategy for scaling test capacity to off-shore Contract Manufacturers, overseeing deployment of test capacity and establishing protocols for remote fleet management.
  • Work cross-functionally to professionalize hardware integration, extended workforce hardware builds to external vendors and creating documentation to ensure consistent replication of test systems.
  • Serve as technical lead for rapid-response production support, troubleshooting complex yield limiters, providing on-call support during critical production ramps (including nights, weekends based on production schedules).

**Minimum qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.

**Preferred qualifications:**

  • Experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) or managing remote test fleets in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in Python and SQL for building automated data pipelines, tool deployment scripts, or system monitoring dashboards.
  • Experience in automating manual engineering workflows (e.g., automated Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), one-click Software deployment) to drive operational scalability.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing cross-functional partners to align on test strategies.
  • Ability to lead complex technical projects with high ambiguity and shifting priorities.

**About the job**

As a Test Engineer focused on MicroLED Display Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the qualification, deployment, and ongoing support of microLED and display panel test systems. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to validate new testing capabilities and provide critical data for both engineering and production. You will work closely with our test engineering and operations teams to optimize test time, extend capabilities, expand capacity, and reduce costs for production test plans.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
