We are looking for a detail-oriented Test Engineer with hands-on experience validating power consumption, thermal behavior, and system performance on Android-based consumer and embedded products. This position will be responsible for designing and executing tests, analyzing results, identifying system-level issues, and working closely with engineering teams to improve product reliability, efficiency, and performance.
The ideal candidate has a strong combination of electrical engineering and software/system knowledge, with practical experience performing power measurements on battery-operated devices and investigating performance or power regressions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with software, systems, and hardware engineers to validate, troubleshoot, deploy, maintain, and support Android-based platforms and products.
- Plan and execute power and performance validation activities across a variety of device use cases and operating conditions.
- Perform detailed power measurements, including rail-level power characterization, on battery-powered consumer or embedded devices.
- Analyze power behavior in thermally constrained environments and identify opportunities for improving power and thermal efficiency.
- Investigate abnormal power consumption, thermal behavior, and system-performance results to determine root causes.
- Design and execute performance tests measuring metrics such as response time, throughput, resource consumption, system efficiency, and battery endurance.
- Use system-level diagnostics and performance data to isolate hardware, software, chipset, kernel, or component-level contributors to power and performance issues.
- Work closely with software engineers and other technical stakeholders to understand requirements, define test scenarios, and identify potential system issues.
- Participate in frequent cross-functional discussions within a fast-moving engineering environment.
- Clearly document test procedures, measurements, findings, failures, and recommendations for corrective action.
- Communicate technical results and observations effectively to engineering and project stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement of validation methodologies, test coverage, and automated regression detection.
- For senior-level engineers, perform deeper system-level investigations to trace power or performance regressions to specific components, software layers, or system subsystems.
