Job summary

Sigma Connectivity Inc. in Redmond, WA is seeking a Senior Android Power and Thermal Engineer with a strong focus on system-level power characterization and performance.

You will work on Qualcomm-based or similar embedded platforms, connecting software power behavior with hardware power metrics. Responsibilities include analyzing power across sleep states, debugging power issues across kernel, driver, and firmware layers, and collaborating with teams to optimize battery and thermal performance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Embedded Systems Engineering.
• 8+ years of embedded systems experience.
• Strong understanding of Android Power Management and Embedded Linux.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize Android system power consumption across active, idle, sleep, suspend, and deep-sleep states.
• Investigate Android Power Manager, wakelocks, suspend/resume behavior, CPU idle states, DVFS, and thermal management.
• Debug power-related issues spanning Android Framework, System Services, HAL Layers, Device Drivers, Linux Kernel, Firmware.
• Analyze BatteryStats, dumpsys, Perfetto traces, systrace, kernel traces, logcat logs, and vendor diagnostics.
• Correlate Android software behavior with measured electrical power consumption.
• Identify and resolve excessive battery drain, wake-up events, thermal throttling, and performance bottlenecks.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Android Power and Thermal Engineer with a strong background in Android and Embedded testing and debugging, focused on system-level power characterization, battery characterization, and power-performance optimization on Qualcomm-based or similar complex embedded platforms, and who understands DSPs, co-processors, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and optimize Android system power consumption across active, idle, sleep, suspend, and deep-sleep states.
• Investigate Android Power Manager, wakelocks, suspend/resume behavior, CPU idle states, DVFS, thermal management, and battery usage patterns.

• Education: BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering
• 8+ years of embedded systems experience.
• Deep understanding of Android Power Management.
• Strong Embedded Linux experience.
• Experience with PMICs and power architecture.
• Experience with Android Framework, HAL, Kernel, and Driver debugging.
• Experience with power measurement equipment.
• Experience with system-level power characterization.
• Experience debugging power, thermal, and battery issues.
• Experience with schematics and board-level investigations.
• Experience building structured validation and characterization plans

We offer

The annual salary range for this role is $130,000–$195,000.

The Annual Salary depends on various job-related factors, including professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
