Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Software Quality Assurance professional in the Arlington, VA area to join our QA team. You will test AAMVA applications, REST services, and microservices, and contribute to test plans and strategies across UI, API, and service layers.

You will build automated test scripts, validate REST APIs, and use virtualization tools to test components in isolation while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced CI/CD environment.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree from an accredited college or university; equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree.
• 3-5 years of software quality assurance and testing experience with a solid understanding of the SDLC.
• Solid test-design ability, including edge and negative cases.
• Strong analytical skills and learning agility.
• Hands-on knowledge of databases and SQL including Azure SQL and Cosmos DB.
• Experience with Jira and Azure DevOps/ALM for test management and defect tracking.
• Familiarity with Selenium, Postman, or Playwright for automated testing.

Job description

Create, execute, and maintain test cases and contribute to test plans for AAMVA applications, REST services, and microservices
Conduct functional, system, integration, and regression testing
Build and maintain automated test scripts across UI, API/REST, and service layers within CI/CD pipelines
Perform REST API request/response, schema, status-code, and authentication validation
Use service virtualization and mocks to test components in isolation
Manage test data to ensure tests are atomic and repeatable
Validate data across Azure SQL and Cosmos DB
Participate in testing for jurisdictions and partners implementing system or platform changes
Apply AI-assisted testing tools for test creation, debugging, and reporting
Log, track, and manage defects through resolution using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar systems
Communicate defects with reproduction steps and supporting details
Facilitate testing sessions with jurisdictions and commercial/third-party consumers
Conduct customer outreach including surveys, scheduling, and consultations
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other cross-functional teams
Participate in testing and procedural documentation reviews
Maintain proficiency in AAMVA applications and testing tools through training and hands-on experience
Recommend improvements to testing processes, efficiency, and customer experience

Requirements

• Solid test-design ability, including basic edge and negative cases
• Strong analytical skills and learning agility
• Working knowledge of functional, system, integration, regression, and REST/API testing
• Working, hands-on knowledge of databases and SQL, including relational and NoSQL stores such as Azure SQL and Cosmos DB
• Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps/ALM
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Postman, or Playwright
• Familiarity with service virtualization/mocks and managing test data for isolated, repeatable tests
• Awareness of Azure request-path components including API Management, Application Gateway, and Web Application Firewall
• Conceptual understanding of cloud-hosted microservices environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and exposure to AI-assisted testing
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and elevate complex problems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer service
• Experience facilitating meetings and testing sessions with stakeholders
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Ability to work independently while seeking guidance on complex issues
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, proactive problem-solving, and critical-thinking ability
