Job summary

Adtran in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Test Design Engineer to help develop and implement functional tests for new and existing products. You will design hardware test instruments and develop software to support hardware designs.

The role involves creating test procedures, automating tests in C++ and Python, and contributing to firmware and circuit design efforts. Travel internationally may be required as part of this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Computer Engineering, Computer Science,) required.
• 2-5 years of professional engineering experience is required.
• C/C++ object-oriented programming experience, standard debugging methodologies, hardware design, software version control tools, communications test development tools (MIB browsers, terminal emulation packages, network monitoring software), experience required.
• Must be able to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design or assist in the design of hardware, including special test instruments as needed to support new product interface and testing requirements.
• Develop or assist in the development of advanced software applications to support current and future hardware designs.
• May generate test procedures, implement test hardware, and automate tests in C++ and Python.
• Design or assist in the design of digital and analog circuits, simulation and debugging.
• May research fiber-optic technologies, wireless communications, and/or additional innovations as applicable to ADTRAN products.
• May be involved in firmware development.
• Should have the ability to fault isolate product failures to the circuit and component level, and to guarantee adequate test coverage in a high-speed production environment.
• Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
