Southwest Range Services in the United States prepares LTAMDS test items, test sites, and related equipment to support program testing. Tests are conducted following approved OTPs, SOPs, and NRDs, with data collection and environmental monitoring integral to each operation.
The role emphasizes instrumentation setup, data handling, and adherence to safety and security requirements; some overtime and TDY may be needed, and a valid driver’s license is required.
Prepares Lower Tier Air Missile Defense Systems (LTAMDS) test items, test sites, related test equipment in support of the LTAMDS program testing. Conducts assigned tests in accordance with approved Operations Test Plans (OTPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and National Range Documentation (NRDs). Specific tasking may include instrumentation setup, operation, collection and distribution of data, ammunition handling, and environmental monitoring. Coordinates tasks in conjunction with current test procedures, test operations methodology and test requirements. Maintains an accurate, detail chronological event logs for all LTAMDS events. Uses technical knowledge to acquireproficiency with Integrated LTAMDS and Patriot Air Defense System to perform job requirements.
Applies general knowledge of LTAMDS and Patriot Air Defense System operator procedures, testing requirements, reference Technical Manuals or prescribed procedures to ensure proper setup and operation of the equipment for test purposes. Work maybe checked by supervisor or higher graded technician to ensure compliance with written procedures, test plans and/or accepted practices. May be assigned other duties within his or her capabilities. Work will include cross-utilization into other jobs as required. May require some overtime and / or weekend work and will require a minimum of 30% TDY assignments.
Graduation from a two-year technical program at an accredited institution or a total of three years of progressive experience in the LTAMDS field or a closely related field. Military training and practical experience with one or more LTAMDS and Air Missile Defense Systems will be evaluated and may satisfy the formal education requirement. May be required to obtain an ammunition and explosives certification as per IAW ATEC 385-1 chapter 14, Level II. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver around weapons systems and be able to work in exterior unprotected environments.
DESIRED QUALIFICATION: Experience with Army Integrated Air and Missile Defense System (AIAMD) or related Air Missile Defense systems (e.g. PATRIOT, THAAD, IFMC, LTAMDS etc.).
