Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced Territory Underwriter to manage a designated commercial lines territory across the United States. You will evaluate risk, price new and renewal business, negotiate terms, and build strong agency relationships to drive profitable growth.

The role partners with distribution and internal leaders to deliver exceptional service. This position requires collaboration, travel within the territory, and a customer‑focused approach.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• AU or CPCU designations preferred
• Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in Property, General Liability, Commercial Auto and Workers Compensation
• Strong understanding of underwriting practices, risk assessment, and policy structures
• Familiarity with insurance policy language and coverage forms
• Solid data usage to support underwriting decisions
• Strong time management and communication skills

What You'll Do

We're looking for an experienced Territory Underwriter to manage and grow a designated commercial lines territory. In this role, you'll evaluate risk, make sound underwriting decisions, build strong agency relationships, and help drive profitable growth across the region. You'll work closely with Distribution partners, business leaders, and agency stakeholders to identify opportunities, support retention efforts, and deliver exceptional service.

• Participate in virtual meetings and maintain regular communication with key stakeholders

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Professional designations such as AU or CPCU preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience in Property, General Liability, Commercial Auto and Workers Compensation
• Strong understanding of underwriting practices, risk assessment, and policy structures
• Familiarity with insurance policy language and coverage forms
• Solid understanding of working with data to support underwriting decisions
• Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skill
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and accountability

Salary Range

$60,000.00-$125,000.00 USD with performance-based bonus potential

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, this range represents a good‑faith estimate. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, credentials, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.

This role may be based out of our office locations:

Scottsdale, AZ; and Rancho Cordova, CA.
