Job summary

Blueprint Technologies, headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, is hiring a Senior Terraform Infrastructure Engineer to modernize a business-critical application by moving AKS and VM workloads to Azure Container Apps and Azure SQL.

You’ll own Terraform delivery, build reusable modules, evaluate workloads, and guide platform decisions with engineering, security, data, and operations teams through assessment, testing, cutover, and rollback.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in infrastructure and cloud engineering roles.
• Five+ years delivering production Azure environments with Terraform.
• Expert knowledge of Terraform architecture and IaC.
• Expert knowledge of AKS internals and Kubernetes troubleshooting.
• Experience containerizing APIs and web applications.
• Five+ years of Azure networking and private connectivity.
• Experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL on VMs and migrations.
• CI/CD, release automation, and rollback experience.
• Observability and production operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Terraform architecture for migration landing zones, networking, identity, security, app platforms, databases, monitoring, and environment promotion.
• Build reusable Terraform modules for Azure components like VNETs, Private DNS, Private Endpoints, NSGs, ACR, Container Apps, SQL, Key Vault, managed identities, monitoring, access controls.
• Manage Terraform providers, remote state, locking, environment separation, module versioning, drift detection, policy checks, and CI/CD promotion.
• Evaluate AKS workloads and troubleshoot control-plane interactions, node pools, scheduling, taints, affinity, probes, services, ingress, DNS, network policies, CNI, storage, StatefulSets, and more.
• Assess containerized APIs and web apps for runtime dependencies, state management, configuration, database connections, health endpoints, and scaling.
• Assess Windows/Linux apps hosted on Azure VMs, including scheduled tasks, file dependencies, OS integrations, certificates, ports, and service accounts.
• Design Azure Container Apps environments for APIs, web apps, workers, jobs, and event-driven services with revisions and scale-to-zero capabilities.
• Containerize VM-hosted apps using secure OCI images, multi-stage builds, non-root execution, vulnerability scanning, and health probes.
• Determine when workloads must stay on AKS or VMs due to dependencies or OS requirements.
• Plan migrations from SQL Server/Azure SQL on VMs to Azure SQL Database or Managed Instances.
• Manage database connections, backups, cutover planning, rollback procedures, and capacity sizing.
• Establish observability, alerts, runbooks, security evidence, load testing, and rollback procedures.
• Partner with engineering/security/data/operations to document decisions and migrations.
