Job summary

Crowley Maritime Corporation is seeking a Terminal Operations Manager to lead safe and efficient cargo throughput, oversee facility readiness and equipment, and guide a team across port operations. You will coordinate with labor, regulatory bodies and other terminals to ensure seamless service on a dynamic global supply chain.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety, and regulatory compliance, with on-site work and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, or a related field, or a combination of post-high school education and experience.
• 5 to 10 years in terminal, logistics and stevedoring operations; 3 to 5 years in a supervisory/management role.
• Experience administering a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, organize and control the safe load and discharge of vessels.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment, plus regular inspections.
• Interact with yard, maintenance, Freight Services and Equipment Control to coordinate cargo movement and personnel.
• May interact with vessel operations and other terminals for scheduling.
• Maintain relationships with union officials, stewards, employees and non-union personnel under policies and CBAs.
• Maintain relationships with State and Federal regulatory agencies for facility operation and certification.
• Audit and update terminal plans and checklists.
• Oversee hiring, training and evaluation of personnel.
• Coordinate customer tours and sales calls to determine service needs.

What You'll Do

Responsible for managing the port and/or terminal operations by ensuring the safe discharge, organization, storage, and movement of cargo throughout the terminal.

• Coordinates, organizes and controls the safe load and discharge of vessel.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of both the facilities and equipment in addition to conducting regular facility inspections.
• Interact with the yard, maintenance, Freight Services and Equipment Control departments to coordinate the movement of cargo and marine operations personnel in other locations.
• May interact with vessel operations and other terminals for scheduling.
• Maintain working relationship with union officials, stewards, employees and non-union personnel through proper administration of all policies and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Maintains working relationships with State and Federal regulatory agencies in the proper operation and certification of the facility.
• Periodically audit and update all terminal plans and check lists.
• Oversee and participate in the hiring, training and evaluation of personnel.
• May conduct customer tours and sales calls as requested which you would directly coordinate the service requirements.

Qualifications

Education & Credentials

Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, or a related field’ or a combination of post-high school education and experience.

Experience

5 to 10 years working in terminal, logistics and stevedoring operations; 3 to 5 years in a supervisory or management position. Experience administering a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) preferred.

Technical Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Other

• Bilingual skills are preferred.
• Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) credential is required.
• Also, subject to a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check to obtain your driving history.
• Do you have a Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) credential?
• 10% travel to local islands, USVI, and BVI.

Working Conditions

Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
