Job summary

Texas A&M University’s Department of Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology seeks a tenured Professor to serve as Department Head and lead MPIM toward future excellence in research, education, and service. The appointment is full-time, 11-month, with a start anticipated in 2027, reporting to the Dean and collaborating across basic sciences, clinical partners, and other colleges.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, DVM or other equivalent degree(s).
• Demonstrated track record of outstanding scientific achievements and external funding.
• Experience leading academic or research programs and people.

Responsibilities

• Research: define and implement a department-wide vision for basic and translational research.
• Teaching/education: advance medical and graduate education and foster training of scientists and clinicians.
• Service: provide leadership to enhance the department's reputation and engage with committees and external partners.
• Administration/Leadership: guide budgeting, strategic planning, and collaboration with college and university leadership.
