Texas A&M University’s Department of Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology seeks a renowned scientist to serve as Department Head with a tenured Professor rank. The appointment is 11 months, full-time, with leadership responsibilities and a start in 2027.

The role requires excellence in research, teaching, and service across collaborations with basic sciences, clinical partners, and other colleges. The successful candidate will advance a vigorous research program, mentor faculty and trainees,

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, DVM or other equivalent degree in a relevant area (e.g., Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pathology).
• A distinguished record of outstanding scientific achievements, as evidenced by high-impact publications and sustained extramural funding.
• Examples of successful collaborative academic leadership with demonstrated experience and leadership in education of both professional and graduate students.
• Examples of developing early career faculty and academic leaders with a reputation for excellence in mentorship of students and trainees.

Responsabilités

• Research: Collaborate with faculty to define and implement a vision for expanding basic and translational research and promoting commercialization of discoveries.
• Teaching: Advance the educational mission and support training of scientists and physicians who will lead future discoveries in microbiology and immunology.
• Service: Provide vision and leadership to enhance the department's reputation within the college and university and engage external partners.
• Administration/Leadership: Lead budgeting, strategic planning, and cross‑departmental collaboration to ensure departmental excellence and sustainable growth.
