Job summary

Western Washington University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre beginning September 16, 2027. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced theatre courses, direct productions, mentor students, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment within a liberal arts framework.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive learning environments.
• Evidence of successful teaching in higher education or equivalent.
• Record of creative activity and/or scholarship in theatre arts.
• Demonstrated collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach Introduction to Theatre, Directing, Theatre Education and other courses as needed.
• Direct productions for the department's mainstage season.
• Mentor students and collaborate with faculty to support the curriculum.
• Fulfill recruiting, advising, and inclusion-focused responsibilities.
