Job summary

The Department of Theatre at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Theatre - Acting to begin August 2027. The successful candidate will teach acting from introductory through advanced levels and participate in mentoring students as part of a collaborative program.

We seek a practitioner-scholar who maintains an active professional practice and directs one departmental production each academic year.

Qualifications

• MFA in Acting or MFA in Directing with college-level acting teaching experience.
• Professional acting or directing experience.
• Experience teaching acting at multiple levels.
• Evidence of student-centered teaching and mentorship.
• Evidence of ongoing professional/creative activity.

Responsibilities

• Teach acting from introductory through advanced levels.
• Direct one departmental production each academic year.
• Mentor students and support their artistic development.
