The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre - Acting beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will teach acting from introductory through advanced levels, direct a departmental production each academic year, and contribute to a student-centered studio environment.

Qualifications

• MFA in Acting, or MFA in Directing with demonstrated experience teaching acting at the college, university, conservatory, or equivalent professional-training level at time of application
• Professional experience as an actor or director
• Experience teaching acting at multiple levels
• Evidence of a student-centered approach to teaching and mentorship
• Evidence of continued or developing professional and/or creative activity

Responsibilities

• Teach acting from introductory through advanced levels, along with other courses reflecting areas of expertise
• Direct one departmental production each academic year
• Mentor students and integrate mentorship with teaching
• Maintain an active professional and/or creative practice
• Collaborate with colleagues to support student-centered actor training
