Job summary

SVSU seeks applicants for full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor of Social Work to begin Fall 2027, with teaching across the BSW and MSW curricula and the possibility to focus on undergraduate, graduate, or both levels.

Responsibilities include teaching, advising, scholarship, and service while maintaining currency with CSWE EPAS accreditation; collaboration across the department and university is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program and LMSW licensure (or eligibility) through the State of Michigan.
• A minimum of two years of full-time post-MSW practice as a social worker and social work teaching experience.
• Doctorate in social work or related field or at least 15 hours of credits toward a doctorate in social work or a related field.
• Experience interacting positively with all members of the campus community.
• Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate BSW and/or graduate MSW courses as assigned.
• Develop and deliver instruction across practice, policy, human behavior, and, as assigned, practicum education.
• Maintain currency in course content and instructional methods per CSWE EPAS accreditation standards.
• Advise assigned BSW or MSW students on curriculum planning, practicum readiness, and professional development.
• Maintain an active program of scholarship, research, or creative activity.
• Serve on department, college, and university committees.
• Support program-level accreditation, assessment, and curriculum development activities.
• Engage in service to the social work profession and community.
