Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks a tenure-line Assistant or Associate Professor of Secondary Mathematics Education who can prepare effective educators and collaborate with department colleagues, mathematics and STEM content specialists, and classroom teachers. The program graduates 10-12 teacher candidates yearly and offers graduate math education courses to 10-27 in-service teachers per term.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in mathematics education or related field.
  • Experience teaching mathematics education in higher education.
  • Evidence of a research agenda in secondary mathematics education.
  • Commitment to access and equity in teaching and scholarship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate coursework in Secondary Mathematics Education and methods courses.
  • Supervise professional practicum students and student teachers.
  • Teach graduate courses in K-12 Mathematics Education and related areas.
  • Advise and mentor master’s and doctoral students.
  • Conduct a scholarly program of research appropriate to rank.
  • Collaborate across content areas and programs to develop and expand offerings.
  • Provide outreach to schools and communities.
