Job summary

University of Wisconsin - La Crosse is seeking applicants for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Microbiology beginning 8/23/2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advise students, and maintain an active program of scholarship.

The department emphasizes teaching excellence, research mentorship, and service to the university and community. Applicants should have a Doctorate in Microbiology or related field by the end of the first

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Microbiology discipline or related field; must be earned by end of first academic year.
• Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
• Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and advise students.
• Maintain currency in the content area and provide regular feedback on student work.
• Maintain records and hold office hours; participate in scholarly activities and service to department, college, and university.
• Develop and sustain an active research program involving undergraduate and/or MS students, including mentoring and seeking funding.
