Job summary

Winthrop University seeks an innovative tenure-track assistant professor to serve as Internship and Field Experience Coordinator and teach in the Exercise Science program. The candidate will collaborate with faculty to ensure high-quality didactic education and exceptional internship experiences for undergraduate students.

The role requires a doctorate in exercise science or closely related field (ABD considered) and the CSCS credential, with demonstrated ability in teaching and scholarly

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: Doctorate with specialization in exercise science, strength and conditioning or closely related field (ABD with completion by summer 2027 will be considered)
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential
• Experience as a provider of exercise science or strength and conditioning services to clients or patients
• Foundation for successful collegiate teaching; and
• Foundation for active scholarship; and
• Ability to work collaboratively with departmental and other university members
• DESIRED: Experience with CASCE and/or CoAES accreditation procedures
• Experience supervising exercise science or strength and conditioning internship and field experiences
• Demonstrated ability in the use of technology and online learning for instructional purposes
• Demonstrated ability to use technology for student record keeping and management
• Experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds; and
• Expertise in one or more areas of exercise science or strength and conditioning: exercise physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise prescription, athlete assessment and performance, and military and tactical athlete performance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internship and field experiences for Exercise Science students.
• Teach in the Exercise Science program.
• Collaborate with faculty and community partners to ensure high-quality didactic education and field experiences.
• Engage in scholarly activity and university service.
