Job summary

McPherson College invites applications for an enthusiastic Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the Health & Sport Studies Department. This full-time, tenure-track position includes teaching 21 credit hours per academic year and leading the CSCS exam preparation program, with strength and conditioning oversight for select collegiate teams.

The ideal candidate will hold a terminal degree (PhD/EdD recommended; master's minimum) and demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching,

Qualifications

• Experience in collegiate or high school strength and conditioning.
• Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and student mentorship.
• Ability to teach across the Exercise Science curriculum (Strength and Conditioning, Biomechanics, Personal & Group Exercise Training, Fitness Assessment & Prescription).
• Willingness to advise students, support recruiting, and participate in governance.
• Terminal degree recommended; master's degree acceptable as minimum.

Responsibilities

• Teach 21 credit hours per academic year within the Exercise Science major.
• Lead the department's CSCS exam preparation program.
• Provide strength and conditioning oversight for select athletic teams.
• Maintain regular office hours and advise Exercise Science majors.
• Support undergraduate research and applied learning opportunities.
• Assist with student recruiting and contribute to college governance.

Education

PhD or EdD in Exercise Science or closely related field

Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or related field

Experience in collegiate or high school strength and conditioning

Excellence in undergraduate teaching and student mentorship

Ability to teach across the Exercise Science curriculum

Willingness to advise students and participate in governance
