Job summary

The Department of Dramatic Art at UNC-Chapel Hill invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy. The appointment carries a 2/2 teaching load and engages undergraduate courses in dramaturgy, theatre history, and dramatic literature.

The successful candidate will develop an active program of scholarly or creative research with emphasis on Asian, African, and/or Latin American theatre, and contribute to production activities with PlayMakers Repertory Company

Qualifications

• MA/MFA or terminal degree in Theatre, Performance Studies, Dramaturgy, or related field by time of appointment.
• Evidence of active scholarly/creative research and excellence in teaching.
• Preference for expertise in Asian, African, and/or Latin American theatre.

Responsibilities

• Teach dramaturgy, theatre history, and dramatic literature at undergraduate level.
• Contribute to production and artistic activities with PlayMakers Repertory Company and Kenan Theatre Company.
• Mentor students and collaborate with department and theatre entities.
• Maintain an active program of scholarly and/or creative research.
