Job summary

Volunteer State Community College in Tennessee seeks an Instructor of Criminal Justice on a 9/10‑month tenure track. The role includes coordinating the Criminal Justice program, delivering instruction across online and on-campus formats, and supervising students and interns.

Responsibilities include teaching 15 credit hours, leading curriculum development and accreditation efforts, and supporting mentoring, advising, and service activities within the college community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited institution or MSc + 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice.
• Candidates with JD and notable teaching contributions may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 semester credit hours and maintain office hours as defined by policy.
• Teach 28–32 credit hours across Fall and Spring terms; including evening/weekend/distance courses.
• Lead program development, evaluation, and accreditation efforts as applicable.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate adjunct faculty; ensure adequate staffing.
• Coordinate advisory committee activities and conduct regular departmental meetings.
• Manage department budgets and complete required college trainings and reporting.
• Support student recruitment, retention, and provide mentorship and advising.
