Job summary

Volunteer State Community College invites applications for an Instructor of Criminal Justice for a 9/10 Month Tenure Track position. The role includes coordinating the Criminal Justice program, delivering instruction in multiple formats, and participating in assessment of outcomes.

Responsibilities include teaching 15 credit hours per term, supervising student workers/interns, leading curriculum development and accreditation, and coordinating advisory committee activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited institution, or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice from an accredited institution.
• Candidates with a Master’s degree and/or JD with outstanding experience in criminal justice and teaching may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 credit hours per term and provide in-person and virtual office hours.
• Teach 28–32 semester credit hours across Fall and Spring; include evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses.
• Provide effective instruction and create a supportive learning environment for students.
• Lead development, evaluation, and review of program and curriculum; assist with accreditation efforts as applicable.
• Interview, hire, supervise, and evaluate adjunct faculty; ensure adequate staffing for program courses.
• Coordinate an advisory committee; hold annual meetings and document activities.
• Plan and document regular departmental meetings and participate in college service.
• Support student recruitment and retention; engage in professional development and adherence to policies.
