Job summary

Kennesaw State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music (Clarinet) in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music. The start date is August 2027, with nine-month contract responsibilities in Georgia.

The candidate will teach applied clarinet, maintain an active performance and scholarly profile, and recruit and mentor students. Collaboration with wind, orchestral, chamber, and new music ensembles is expected.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or foreign equivalent in Music required at the time of hire.
• Minimum of three years teaching experience at the college level.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentorship at the collegiate level (preferred).
• Experience in graduate-level instruction and supervision (preferred).
• Record of successful student recruitment and studio development (preferred).
• Engagement with interdisciplinary or cross-genre collaborations (preferred).
• National recognition as a clarinet performer and pedagogue (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach applied clarinet lessons, clarinet studio classes, and related courses (including chamber music, pedagogy, or literature).
• Maintain an active professional profile through performance, research/creative activity, and service to the discipline.
• Recruit and mentor a talented student body, preparing graduates for successful careers in teaching, performance, and related fields.
• Collaborate with wind, orchestral, chamber, and new music ensembles to support the vibrant performance culture of the Bailey School of Music.
• Provide service to the Bailey School of Music, Robert S. Geer Family College of the Arts, University, and profession through committee participation, leadership, and community engagement.
