Job summary

Wichita State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biomedical Sciences within the Department of Biological Sciences at WSU. The 9-month appointment is anticipated to begin August 2, 2027, with responsibilities spanning undergraduate and graduate teaching, and building an externally funded research program.

We seek candidates with expertise in Microbiology, Virology, Genetics, and/or Parasitology, who will mentor students and contribute to department

Qualifications

Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in area of expertise.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Demonstrated potential to establish an independent and productive research program.
Demonstrated ability or potential to work effectively in collaborative environments and engage constructively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Develop and maintain an active externally funded research program involving undergraduates and MS students.
Participate in service activities within the department, college, and university.
Fulfill other duties as assigned and uphold professional standards.
