Job summary
William & Mary seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology (Microbiology) beginning August 2027. The candidate will conduct research, teach microbiology with a two-course load per semester, and participate in university service.
A vibrant externally funded program with undergrad/grad researchers is expected, with BSL-2 lab work in facilities. Responsibilities include research, teaching sophomore microbiology with labs, and a second advanced course in the candidate's area
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in microbiology or related field by August 10, 2027.
- 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Ability to teach compelling microbiology courses and other lecture/seminar-based classes.
- Ability to establish and maintain externally funded research programs with undergrad/grad researchers.
- Experience in BSL-2 laboratory environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, teach, and provide service to the university.
- Establish a vibrant externally funded research program.
- Teach sophomore microbiology with labs and another advanced course.
- Supervise undergraduate students as primary research assistants.
