Job summary

Suffolk County Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Biology on the Ammerman Campus in Selden, NY. The position requires broad biology expertise, including Anatomy & Physiology, and a commitment to open access, equity, and student success.

Responsibilities include delivering student-centered instruction, curricular development, assessment, and advising.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Biology required; PhD preferred for possible advancement.
• Minimum two years of community college teaching experience.
• Commitment to equity and student success; experience teaching diverse learners.
• Familiarity with a learning management system (e.g., Brightspace) and willingness to use the college LMS.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction for open-access community college.
• Participate in curricular development, assessment, and program-level improvements.
• Assess student learning outcomes and use results to inform courses.
• Integrate equity and inclusion into curriculum and pedagogy.
• Align student knowledge and skills with current academic and workforce needs.
• Incorporate instructional technology across modalities.
• Engage in ongoing, research-based professional development in pedagogy and biology.
• Provide academic advising and participate in recruitment and retention efforts.
