Job summary

Suffolk County Community College in Selden, NY invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Professional Assistant in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) for Spring 2027 on the Ammerman Campus. The role oversees lab sections, assists in curriculum planning, and maintains lab facilities and safety protocols.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and extensive biology lab experience, with a preference for anatomy and physiology laboratory work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM-related field.
• Extensive college-level biology laboratory or research lab experience required.
• Previous laboratory experience in anatomy and physiology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the laboratory setup for the Anatomy and Physiology courses.
• Collaborate with Anatomy and Physiology instructors to design and plan the lab topic schedule.
• Coordinate with classroom faculty to promote good lab practices and a safe learning environment.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, anatomical models and other materials.
• Prepare the Anatomy and Physiology yearly budget and manage supplies and inventory.
• Prepare and manage all complex solutions, stains, and reagents following safety protocols.
• Manage all specimens for these courses including purchase, maintenance and disposal.
• Maintain inventory of chemicals, glassware and laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM-related field

Extensive college-level biology laboratory or research lab experience

Previous laboratory experience in anatomy and physiology
