Job summary

Suffolk County Community College seeks an Assistant Dean for the Center for Teaching and Learning at its Ammerman Campus in Selden. The role leads professional development and implements research-based teaching practices across modalities, with emphasis on technology integration and equity in student outcomes.

The Assistant Dean will co-chair committees, oversee instructional design and quality assurance, and partner with ITS and Human Resources to support new faculty orientation and development

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• At least five years of teaching experience in an academic field.
• Five years of eLearning experience, including three years in supervision.
• Experience in LMS administration.

Responsibilities

• Promote a campus culture that values teaching excellence and integrates educational technologies.
• Provide leadership for Brightspace LMS delivery across modalities.
• Evaluate academic technologies and promote best practices in teaching and learning.
• Assist faculty with instructional methods and educational technologies.
• Co-chair the Distance Education Committee and advise on distance education and technologies.
• Develop and coordinate faculty orientation and professional development programs.
