Job summary

Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus in Selden seeks a full-time Professional Assistant in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) for Spring 2027. The PA will manage and coordinate all sections of Anatomy and Physiology II and related labs, and support laboratory instruction across related courses.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in a STEM field and substantial college-level biology lab experience, with familiarity in traditional and computer-based lab methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field.
• Extensive college-level biology laboratory or research lab experience.
• Previous laboratory experience in anatomy and physiology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate laboratory setups for Anatomy and Physiology courses.
• Collaborate with instructors to design lab topic schedules and integrate curricular changes.
• Promote good lab practices and ensure a safe learning environment in accordance with regulations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, models and materials.
• Prepare and manage the Anatomy and Physiology yearly budget and inventory of supplies, equipment and contracts.
• Prepare and handle all complex solutions, stains, reagents and waste disposal following safety protocols.
• Manage all specimens and microscope slides, including inventory and quality control.
• Maintain inventory of chemicals, glassware and lab equipment; ensure proper working condition.
