Qualifications

• PhD in Japanese linguistics or a related field by August 15, 2027 (ABD candidates welcome).
• Native or near-native fluency in English and Japanese.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a robust research program in Japanese linguistics and engage with subfields through rigorous methods.
• Teach undergraduate courses in Japanese linguistics, language, and culture and support student development.
• Teach and mentor MA and PhD students in the Japanese graduate program with active mentorship across related programs.
• Contribute to a collaborative intellectual environment by working with faculty in the Japanese program and related disciplines.
• Contribute to department and university service through committee work as appropriate to rank.
