Qualifications

• Doctoral degree required or advanced ABD with degree before hire date.
• Deep knowledge of The Science of Reading and literacy expertise.
• Ability to work collaboratively to maintain cohesion of the elementary education program.
• Experience teaching college level literacy courses and/or graduate courses preferred.
• LETRS training preferred, or willingness to be trained within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum of five years' experience teaching students in grades K-6 preferred.
• Demonstrated teaching competence via a teaching demonstration for finalists.
• Creativity and effectiveness in teacher education approaches.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency with technology, including online instruction.

Responsibilities

• Teach specialized pedagogy classes in literacy, social studies methods, differentiation, multilingual learners, classroom assessment, curriculum and lesson planning.
• Teach general pedagogy courses for the Elementary Education program.
• Assist in curriculum development and new programs.
• Support national accreditation requirements and state licensure competencies.
• Collaborate with local school district personnel to prepare students to teach at the elementary level.
• Supervise and mentor students in field experiences.
• Fulfill faculty duties including office hours, advising, and committee work.
• Provide institutional service as required by policy.
