Job summary

Utah Tech University is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Elementary Education for Spring or Fall 2027. The role focuses on teaching literacy and pedagogy, developing curriculum, and preparing students to become teachers in diverse communities.

The candidate should hold a Doctoral degree in Teacher Education or related field with a strong science of reading background, and have experience teaching college literacy courses.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Teacher Education, Elementary Education, or related field; advanced ABD candidates considered.
• Deep knowledge of The Science of Reading and literacy expertise.
• Ability to collaborate to maintain cohesion of the elementary education program.
• Experience teaching college level literacy courses and/or graduate courses preferred.
• LETRS training preferred or willingness to be trained within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum of five years' experience teaching students in grades K-6.
• Demonstrated ability in effective teaching and ability to demonstrate teaching.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; good organizational and time management.
• Excellent knowledge and skills with technology, including online instruction.

Responsibilities

• Teach specialized pedagogy classes in literacy, social studies methods, differentiation, and related areas.
• Teach general pedagogy courses for the Elementary Education program.
• Assist in development of new curriculum and programs.
• Assist in meeting national accreditation and USBE licensure competencies.
• Collaborate with local school district personnel to align the program.
• Supervise and mentor students in field experiences.
• Fulfill faculty responsibilities including office hours, advising, committee work.
• Provide institutional service per Regent/University policy.
• Adhere to department, college, and university policies; perform other duties.
