Job summary

The College of Lake County is seeking an Acting Academic Success Advisor to serve as the primary liaison for an assigned caseload of students within a designated Field of Interest. This role provides a personalized, holistic, and culturally responsive advising experience from enrollment through credential attainment.

Responsibilities include advising, transfer guidance, career exploration and planning, financial planning, case management, and proactive outreach, partnering with college

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or communications or related field; or Master’s degree.
• 3+ years of experience in higher education, secondary education, human services.
• Proven integrity, collaboration, and teamwork.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and active listening.
• Ability to deliver online and in-person presentations.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising, transfer guidance, career exploration and planning.
• Develop personalized, holistic success plans for each advisee.
• Maintain detailed advising notes and semester by semester course plans.
• Collaborate with college departments to support student success.
• Use advising software and MS Office to track progress.
