The City of Fairfax is seeking a part-time Video Production Assistant to support the Cable Television Division within the Communications and Marketing Office. You will set up, operate, and break down production equipment for live meetings, events, and recorded content.
Responsibilities include operating cameras in multiple configurations, running cables, placing microphones, and using a character generator and video switcher. 1–2 years in video production required.
The position supports video production for the City’s Cable Television Division within the Communications and Marketing Office. Responsibilities include assisting with the creation of programming for the City’s Government Access Channel and social media platforms.
The role involves setting up, operating, and breaking down video production equipment for live meeting coverage, community events, and recorded content. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Producer.
Operates cameras in remote-controlled, studio, and ENG configurations.
Runs and organizes video and audio cables.
Places microphones and sets appropriate audio levels.
Creates, updates, and recalls graphics using a character generator.
Utilizes a video switcher during live broadcasts.
Follows cues from the Director during live telecasts.
Captures and edits footage for a variety of edited productions.

High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented with college-level coursework in video production.
One to two years of experience in video production.
Approximately 10-20 hours per week.
May be required to work nights and weekends as needed based on department and operational needs.
