Job summary

City of Fairfax seeks an experienced video production assistant to support our Cable Television Division within the Communications and Marketing Office. The role covers live meeting coverage, community events, and edited content.

You will set up and operate cameras, manage cables, place microphones, and edit with Adobe Premiere. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in video production, strong communication, and the ability to lead a technical crew.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with college coursework in video production.
  • 1–2 years of experience in video production.
  • Thorough knowledge of video production equipment.
  • Ability to edit with Adobe Premiere.
  • Ability to direct live and pre-recorded productions.
  • Ability to lead and direct a technical production crew.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of all aspects of video production.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and break down video production equipment for live meetings, events, and recorded content.
  • Operate cameras in remote-controlled, studio, and ENG configurations.
  • Run and organize video and audio cables.
  • Place microphones and set audio levels.
  • Create, update, and recall graphics using a character generator.
  • Utilize a video switcher during live broadcasts.
  • Follow cues from the Director during live telecasts.
  • Capture and edit footage for a variety of productions.
