Job summary

Hagerstown Community College is seeking a Temporary Registration Advisor to work with students, guiding them through course selections, degree requirements, and transfer planning within the community college setting.

The role involves interpreting test results, advising on career paths, and assisting with registration in Self-Service, while coordinating with faculty and staff to support student success. Evening/weekend duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience working with students in higher education.
• Background in the Maryland and out-of-state transfer articulation system.
• Knowledge and experience with a student database system.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advisement for new and returning students.
• Interpret placement test results and transcripts.
• Assist students in scheduling courses and understanding degree requirements.
• Explain policies and procedures and assist with transfer planning.
• Guide students in career planning and development.
• Assist with online advising resources and navigation of Self-Service.
• Refer students to appropriate offices and faculty advisors.
• Explain financial aid rules and regulations.
• Assist with registration questions and lab scheduling.
• Support evening and weekend advising as needed.
