Job summary

Wor-Wic Community College is seeking a part-time Student Affairs Specialist to support the registrar's office and the student affairs division. The role involves monitoring registration, attendance, and grade reporting for credit courses, and processing transcripts for dual enrollment students.

The position requires evening/weekend hours, including participation in the annual commencement, with typical schedule and benefits described by the college.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required or two years of related work experience substituted for education requirement.
  • Two years of administrative or teaching experience.
  • Excellent computer, organizational, human relations, attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population on sensitive, confidential matters with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and provide excellent customer service.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor's degree and with programming/outreach experience in student advising.
  • Experience in college/university/high school settings considered an asset.
  • Bilingual English/Creole skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the registrar with monitoring attendance and grade reporting for all credit courses and resolves issues by liaising with faculty.
  • Processes and produces official transcripts for dual enrollment students and sends to the appropriate high school at term end.
  • Registers dual enrollment students in credit course sections offered at high school sites; coordinates with dual enrollment director to resolve issues.
  • Provides outreach to high schools to support student persistence and academic success; responds to faculty alerts of academic concerns.
  • Evaluates high school transcripts for articulated credit and placement waivers, posts credits, generates reports, and mails notification letters.
  • Provides backup support to dual enrollment staff and supports information desk and main switchboard as needed.
